Brian Baxter
AKA The Highland Celebrant
(Based in Scone, Perthshire Scotland)
13 years ago, as a hobby, I started my own Scottish Professional Toastmaster business, or not to sound too stuffy – Wedding & Corporate MC business.
I am skilled in the varied disciplines of event management. Master of Ceremonies, Event Coordinator, Consultant in Procedure, Etiquette and Protocol, Compare, Diplomat, Presenter, Announcer, Substitute Host, Group Organiser and, If I do say so myself, I am an Excellent Mentor.
I became known as The Highland Wedding MC and a Fellow of the Scottish Toastmasters Association and I gained a wealth of experience.
Due to my long Military Career (42 years+), I give any event a heightened sense of occasion, ensuring that everything runs smoothly on time with diligence, passion and fun.
During these 13 years, and having observed, with dismay, some mundane ceremonies. It was this that triggered my desire to see if I could add some of my skills and change things. So I chose to train to become a celebrant in 2019.
Once I completed and was certified from the Celebrant and Public Speaking Diploma with UKCAPSA. I became a part time Celebrant in March 2020, just as the UK entered its first COVID19 Lockdown. My bookings began to flood in from 2020 to July 2023!
I quickly found myself as established on the “Scottish Wedding Circuit” and I became a full time celebrant in July 2023.
Becoming a UKCAPSA Trainer and Assessor was a natural “next step” for me in my celebrant career. Having earned the “in the field” experience as a celebrant over the last couple of years, along with having been an SQA Internal Verifier in my previous career. I now take great joy in helping aspiring celebrants to become confident with themselves and to be a better celebrant
than I.
Now that I am fully retired from a mainstream employer, I give 110% time and effort to all of my couples and UKCAPSA candidates.
Feeling inspired? Want to train to become a qualified celebrant?
